The Robit Health Center provides a variety of health services to families in the community. Today the Glimmer team spoke with one of clinic's nurses, Melak Meseret. He told us that this time of year most patients coming to the health center are affected by malaria. Because of the close proximity to the river and Lake Tana, mosquitos and malaria are a big problem for the people in this area.

Earlier in the day, a woman from a nearby village had been admitted with malaria. She was carried on a stretcher by a group of men from her community. Melak explained that if this health center were not here, more men would have had to leave their work in the fields in order to carry her to the next closest health facility, located further away. Thanks to the proximity of the Robit Health Center, those who transport their sick community members spend less time away from work.
