Happy Birthday Annie!
This year for my birthday I don't want presents. I want it to be a little safer for women in rural Ethiopia to have their babies. As most of you know, I had a really rough time giving birth to Jack. If I hadn't had access to medical care I probably wouldn't be here now with my two sweet kiddos. For one out of every 27 women in Ethiopia, death from complications with pregnancy and/or childbirth is a reality. We can do something about that.
My sweet friend Kristen and her husband adopted two kids from Ethiopia a few years ago. Since then they've committed to raising money for community projects in villages like the one their kiddos came from. Poke around on this site and you can see the project they completed in Dali in 2009. http://www.aglimmerofhope.org/success-stories
Would you consider donating? Tercha has a hospital but they don't have a consistent source of electricity or clean water and there is no separate maternity ward. Nearly all the funds for a new maternity ward have been raised, praise God! And as much as I love cookbooks and mani/pedis I'd rather the money go to buy medical equipment for the new maternity ward in Tercha. 100% of funds donated goes to the project. Glimmer of Hope covers all of the overhead, including the credit card transaction fee. Thank you!
